## Hello Stonks! I’m Ahana, and I’m the founder and CEO of Clear.

Clear helps you to 1) understand whether your skincare products are actually working, and 2) make more informed decisions about which products to use.

To use it, you just download and open the free mobile app, select the skincare products you used this morning or evening from our database of over 20,000 products, take your progress selfies, and hit save. From then on, you can autofill your products, and just take your selfies once a week to track your skin progress.

Now, here’s the cool part. Clear users have their skin types and conditions associated with their profiles - we call them “skin tags''. Through these skin tags, Clear allows you to find and connect with other people, with skin like you, and rather than seeing a curated or sponsored one-off experience with a product, you can actually view the products in someone else’s diary - meaning you’re able to see what that person has been doing day-in, day-out, on their real skincare journey.

I can also share my Clear diary with my dermatologist, and through our user badges, I know exactly who I’m getting my information from - be it my dermatologist, my friend, or my favourite skinfluencer.

We’re building transparency, removing the filters, setting realistic expectations, and empowering our users to make more informed, data-driven decisions about which products to use.

Now, why am I working on this? I have suffered with acne for years, and for those of you who have also experienced skin issues first hand - you’ll know how humiliating and isolating it can feel. I have hardly any pictures from my teenage years because I was so embarrassed about my skin, I’ve had friends and family ask what's wrong with my face, I’ve experienced the constant cycles of hope and disappointment when trying different medications, and I’ve wondered why, unlike all the influencers I see on Instagram, why there hasn’t been a miracle product to cure my skin overnight. And despite how lonely my skincare journey has been, looking at the data, I know I’m not alone.

85% of all people will deal with skin issues at some point in their lives, and after spending practically every day of the last 10 years on online skincare forums, on Reddit, on Facebook, I realized I wasn’t the only person desperately searching for a solution. In fact, I couldn't believe there wasn’t already a go-to platform for the skincare community. I knew if I wanted it, I’d have to build it myself.

So, during my Physics degree at Imperial College London, I interned in software engineering, investment banking, and in other startups to gain experience that'd be help me bring Clear to life. While at university, I also met my co-founder and CTO Ben Richards, who published his computational masters thesis at MIT while still in his junior year.

Since writing our first line of code less than a year ago, we’ve launched and grown to over 6,000 users without spending a single dollar on marketing.

Kilobaser has developed a cartridge-based DNA & RNA synthesizer that 
allows anyone to create DNA & RNA oligos, DNA probes and soon even siRNA 
therapeutics and aptamers without effort. On the market since 2020, a 
worldwide customer base and sales capability has already been 
established. By the end of 2021, Kilobaser had sold 43 units and 
generated $830,000 in revenue. Customers include the likes of Bio-Rad, 
Sanofi and the US Navy. Now Kilobaser is preparing for Series-A funding 
to build a sales team and bring new products such as a fully automated 
siRNA synthesizer to the market.
